Where these figures come from
Every calculator range is an original China Care planning assumption, not a published hospital package. The references below help explain charging components and the scale of possible costs. Travel and support rates are model assumptions, not live market prices.

CNY per listed unit; the hospital decides actual scope. These are broad self-pay planning ranges. The lower and upper values are not statistical confidence bounds or minimum/maximum charges.

- Coordination per trip: self-planned CNY 0; practical support CNY 1,500–3,500; extended coordination CNY 5,000–10,000. Interpretation and clinical costs are separate.
- Document translation: CNY 150–300 per standard A4 page (up to about 500 source-language words), charged once across trips. Interpretation: CNY 1,500–3,000 per eight-hour day per trip.
- Hotel / meals per person / shared local transport per day: essential CNY 200–400 / 80–150 / 80–150; comfort CNY 450–800 / 160–260 / 180–350; premium CNY 1,000–1,800 / 300–500 / 450–800. Hotel is per room per night.
- Living-only city factors: Beijing/Shanghai/Shenzhen 1.0; Guangzhou/Hangzhou/Nanjing/Tianjin 0.9; other listed cities 0.8. These are editorial scenario assumptions, not measured city price indexes. Medical, flight and support rates do not change by city.
- Flights are assumed economy return fares per person, multiplied by travelers and journeys. Enter a known fare to replace the region range. Local transport excludes dedicated airport transfers; add those to a provider quote if required.
- The medical preset is counted once for the selected number of units. Multiple visits repeat travel and coordination, not the medical course. If another treatment course is required, enter the combined hospital estimate.
- Not separately budgeted: visas or immigration charges, travel insurance, dedicated nursing or carers, complex complications, unlisted treatment, flight changes and extended aftercare. A reserve does not guarantee these will be covered.
Read the price references and their limits
Sources checked 25 Oct 2026. Historical tariffs and institution-specific prices are contextual references. The model does not extend their rules to every city, service channel or patient.
The 2023 policy sets a CNY 5,130 routine single-implant medical-service ceiling in Shanghai. It excludes separately chargeable materials and several additional treatments; it is not an all-in implant quote.
The list distinguishes consultation, tests and surgical operation fees. An operation-fee line is not the total bill, and tariff columns do not establish insurance eligibility.
December 2024 reported average inpatient costs were about CNY 37,440 for hip replacement and CNY 34,930 for knee replacement. Historical averages are not current foreign-patient quotations.
